Choosing the best eSIM for Thailand is mostly about three things: which Thai network the plan uses (AIS, True or dtac), whether you need a Thai phone number, and whether "unlimited" really keeps full speed. Bangkok is easy on any network. The islands and the north are where the choice shows.

We compared eight travel eSIMs and the two local tourist SIMs on their published terms: price for 5 GB and 10 GB, the 7-day and 30-day unlimited price, the daily full-speed cap, networks, hotspot rules, phone numbers and refunds. Aynet is one of the eight and it is our product. We label it wherever it appears and only give it a category its published facts support.

Short answer: for a two-week holiday, a 5 GB or 10 GB eSIM on two named Thai networks costs under EUR 12 and covers most travellers; if you want a Thai number or unlimited data for a month, the AIS and True tourist SIMs are strong local options.

How we compared: on 29 September 2026 we read each provider's own Thailand page and recorded 5 GB and 10 GB prices over 30 days, unlimited prices for 7 and 30 days, the full-speed cap, networks, hotspot, phone numbers and the refund headline. Prices are in the currency each site showed us; we did not convert them. Aynet's prices come from our live catalogue the same day.

Best eSIMs for Thailand: a brief overview

  • Aynet: best for one recommended plan with two networks named. Our product: 10 GB for 30 days on TrueMove H and dtac is EUR 10.99.
  • Airalo: best for short trips, with 7 and 15 day fixed packages on True and AIS.
  • Saily: best unlimited for sharing. It gives 5 GB a day at full speed, and the page states no hotspot limits.
  • Nomad: best Thai number on an eSIM. The 30-day unlimited plan includes local calls.
  • Holafly: best for unlimited without a published daily gigabyte figure, with hotspot capped at 1 GB a day.
  • Ubigi: best for heavy use. Its unlimited plans include a large full-speed allowance, then 2 Mbps.
  • Yesim: best for exact trip lengths, with unlimited priced for every length from 1 to 30 days.
  • aloSIM: best free international number, through the Hushed app.
  • AIS and True tourist SIMs: the local alternative, with a Thai number and unlimited 5G for 5 to 60 days.

Which Thai network does a travel eSIM use?

Thailand has two large mobile groups: AIS, and True, which merged with dtac in 2023 and still runs both brands. Both list 5G on their tourist plans. A plan that names two networks can switch when one is weak, which helps on islands and in national parks. Among the plans above, Aynet, Airalo, Nomad's fixed plans, Holafly, Ubigi and Yesim each name two.

Aynet's own eSIM for Thailand page, plans from €4.99 (screenshot, 29 September 2026)

Aynet is a travel eSIM shop where you describe your trip in a sentence and get one recommended plan, with the networks, data, days and price shown before you pay. It is our product. Thailand has two tiers: Smart on TrueMove H and dtac, and Max, where some plans run on AIS and dtac and others on TrueMove H and dtac; all are listed with 5G.

What you get

  • Two named networks on the plan before checkout
  • Days start on your first connection in Thailand on almost every plan; the few that start on install say so
  • Top up the same eSIM from My eSIMs; full refund if never installed

Best for

  • A one to three week holiday with a known data need
  • Travellers who would rather be recommended a size than read a grid

Pricing (live catalogue, 29 September 2026, VAT included): Smart 3 GB for 15 days EUR 4.99, 5 GB for 30 days EUR 6.99, 10 GB EUR 10.99, 20 GB EUR 17.99. Max (AIS and dtac) 5 GB EUR 7.99, 10 GB EUR 11.99, 20 GB EUR 18.99.

Pros

  • A choice between the AIS side and the True side
  • Long plans for repeat visits: 50 GB for 180 days, EUR 64.99

Cons

  • Data-only plans: calls and texts stay on your home SIM
  • Newer brand, so fewer reviews so far

2. Airalo, best for short trips

Airalo's Thailand eSIMs page, listing True with 5G and one other network (screenshot, 29 September 2026)

Airalo's Thailand eSIM runs on True and AIS with 5G, and its page says it covers the mainland and islands including Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi and Phi Phi. Fixed packages come in 3, 7, 15 and 30 days, so a week in Bangkok does not pay for a month.

Pricing (airalo.com German store, 29 September 2026): 5 GB for 7 days EUR 6.50, 5 GB for 30 days EUR 7.50, 10 GB for 30 days EUR 10.00, unlimited 7 days EUR 19.00, 30 days EUR 44.50.

Pros

  • Two networks, with fixed packages of 3, 7, 15 and 30 days
  • Unlimited keeps 5 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps

Cons

  • Refunds for a wrong purchase or changed plans are paid only as Airmoney credit
  • Data only

3. Saily, best unlimited for sharing

Saily's eSIM for Thailand page with fixed-data and unlimited plan prices (screenshot, 29 September 2026)

Saily is the eSIM app from the company behind NordVPN. Its Thailand unlimited plans give 5 GB a day at full speed, then up to 1 Mbps, and the page says there are no hotspot restrictions or limits. Unlimited comes in 5 to 30 day lengths.

Pricing (saily.com German store, 29 September 2026): 5 GB for 30 days EUR 6.99, 10 GB EUR 9.99, unlimited 7 days EUR 18.49, 30 days EUR 43.49. Saily blocks automated checks; the page was read in a normal browser.

Pros

  • No hotspot limits stated, with a 5 GB daily full-speed allowance
  • Optional paid US number with SMS and minute packs

Cons

  • The Thai network is not named on the plan page
  • No Thai number; the optional number is a US one

4. Nomad, best Thai number on an eSIM

Nomad's Thailand travel eSIM page, naming True, AIS and dtac (screenshot, 29 September 2026)

Nomad's 30-day Thailand unlimited plan runs on True and includes unlimited calls to local numbers plus THB 100 of international call credit. Nomad says you must verify your ID at a True shop to enable calls. Its fixed plans run on dtac and AIS.

Pricing (nomadesim.com, EUR, 29 September 2026): 5 GB for 30 days EUR 7.02, 10 GB EUR 8.77, unlimited 10 days EUR 14.04 on sale, unlimited 30 days with calls EUR 28.95.

Pros

  • The lowest 10 GB price among the euro prices in our table
  • Hotspot allowed

Cons

  • Unlimited plans start when the eSIM is installed, even outside Thailand, so install them only on arrival
  • Unlimited plans are non-refundable

5. Holafly, best for unlimited without counting

Holafly's eSIM for Thailand page, unlimited data plans only (screenshot, 29 September 2026)

Holafly sells only unlimited Thailand plans, on True or dtac with 5G where available. It publishes no daily gigabyte cap; the page says the operator may slow speed for no more than one day under fair use.

Pricing (holafly.com German store, 29 September 2026): 7 days EUR 25.50, 10 days EUR 33.90, 30 days EUR 68.90.

Pros

  • Refund requests accepted for up to six months (conditions apply)
  • "Always On" 1 GB of backup data a month while the eSIM stays installed

Cons

  • Hotspot limited to 1 GB a day
  • The highest unlimited prices in euros in our table

6. Ubigi, best for heavy use

Ubigi's Thailand data plans table with one-off and annual plans in US dollars (screenshot, 29 September 2026)

Ubigi's Thailand unlimited plans count full-speed data per plan: up to 25 GB over 7 days or 60 GB over 30 days, then 2 Mbps rather than 1 Mbps. It runs on AIS and True Move with 5G.

Pricing (ubigi.com, USD as shown, 29 September 2026): 10 GB for 30 days USD 11, unlimited 7 days USD 22, 30 days USD 49.

Pros

  • Use more on busy days and less on quiet ones
  • Data sharing allowed; plans start on arrival

Cons

  • No one-off 5 GB plan (a monthly 5 GB plan has a three-month minimum)
  • Refunds only for completely unused plans, requested within 14 business days

7. Yesim, best for exact trip lengths

Yesim's eSIM Thailand page with unlimited plans priced by the day (screenshot, 29 September 2026)

Yesim prices Thailand unlimited for every length from 1 to 30 days, on dtac and AIS with 5G, so a 12-day trip pays for 12 days.

Pricing (yesim.app, EUR, 29 September 2026): 5 GB for 30 days EUR 7.00, 10 GB EUR 11.00, unlimited 7 days EUR 22.40, 14 days EUR 29.90, 30 days EUR 42.00.

Pros

  • Two networks named in the page data
  • Refund within 30 days if the eSIM was never installed or connected

Cons

  • No fair use figure published
  • Hotspot "depends on operator"

8. aloSIM, best free international number

aloSIM's Thailand eSIM page with prepaid data plans in US dollars (screenshot, 29 September 2026)

aloSIM includes a free international phone number through the Hushed app. It is not a Thai number, but it lets you call and text without a voice plan. Its Thailand plans run on AIS with LTE or 5G.

Pricing (alosim.com, USD as shown, 29 September 2026): 5 GB for 30 days USD 8.00, 10 GB USD 16.00, 20 GB USD 19.50, unlimited 7 days USD 27.00, 30 days USD 49.00. Unlimited is 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps.

Pros

  • 20 GB costs little more than 10 GB
  • 30-day money-back guarantee for install or connection problems

Cons

  • One network
  • The number is an app number, not a Thai one

The local alternative: AIS and True tourist SIMs

Thailand's own networks sell tourist SIMs, also as eSIMs, with a real Thai number and calls; among the travel eSIMs above, only Nomad's 30-day plan offers that. Both publish "unlimited" 5G data at max speed, with no fair use figure on the page.

  • AIS Tourist SIM: 5 days THB 399, 8 days THB 499, 15 days THB 699, 30 days THB 1,199, 60 days THB 1,599, with free calls within AIS and THB 100 of call credit. You must register the SIM with your passport before use (ais.th).
  • True Tourist Infinite SIM: 8 days THB 499, 15 days THB 699, 30 days THB 1,199, with unlimited calls to all Thai networks (True's terms limit each free call to 15 minutes) and THB 100 of international credit (true.th).

The trade-off: you set it up with passport registration, hotspot and refund rules are not stated on either page, and your data is tied to one network.

How to choose the best eSIM for Thailand

Fixed data or unlimited?

Our own estimate for a fortnight of maps, Grab, messaging and photos is about 5 GB. Among the euro prices above, 10 GB for 30 days costs EUR 8.77 to EUR 11.00, and 7 days of unlimited costs EUR 18.49 to EUR 25.50. Choose unlimited if you stream daily, work from your phone or share with a laptop.

Do you need a Thai number?

Grab works inside its app, and many hotels and drivers reply on WhatsApp or LINE, so a lot of visitors keep their home SIM for calls and use data for the rest. If you want a Thai number, Nomad's 30-day unlimited plan and the AIS or True tourist SIMs include one.

Islands, north or Bangkok?

Bangkok works on every network. For islands and national parks, prefer a plan that names two networks, such as AIS with dtac or True with AIS.

Is your phone ready?

Your phone must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked. A phone on a contract may be locked. Install the eSIM at home before you fly, unless the plan starts on install (like Nomad's unlimited plans).

To skip the comparison, describe your trip to our advisor and get one plan, or see our eSIM plans for Thailand. If an installed eSIM does not connect after landing, our support page walks through the usual fixes.

FAQ

What is the best eSIM for Thailand?

The best eSIM for Thailand for most travellers is a fixed 5 GB or 10 GB plan on two named networks, which cost EUR 6.99 to EUR 11.99 among the euro prices in our 29 September 2026 comparison. Heavy users should compare unlimited plans on their daily full-speed cap. If you need a Thai number, look at Nomad's 30-day plan or an AIS or True tourist SIM.

Which network is best in Thailand, AIS or True?

AIS and True (which now includes dtac) both cover the cities and main tourist areas with 5G. Neither wins everywhere, so a plan that can use two networks is the safer choice for islands and the north.

Is an eSIM better than a tourist SIM in Thailand?

An eSIM is easier: you install it at home and have data when you land, with no passport registration. A tourist SIM from AIS or True gives you a Thai number and calls, and 30 days of unlimited data costs THB 1,199.

How much data do I need for two weeks in Thailand?

Our estimate is about 5 GB for two weeks of maps, Grab, messaging and photos. Add more if you stream, make daily video calls or share the connection.

Is unlimited data in Thailand really unlimited?

Not always at full speed. Airalo and Saily give 5 GB a day and aloSIM 3 GB a day before slowing to 1 Mbps; Ubigi gives 25 GB per 7 days, then 2 Mbps. Holafly, Nomad, Yesim and the tourist SIMs publish no figure.

Can I use a Thailand eSIM on the islands?

Yes, Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi and Phi Phi are covered by AIS and True. Smaller islands and national parks can be patchy, so a plan with two networks helps.

When should I install my Thailand eSIM?

Install it at home, before you fly, for plans that start on your first connection in Thailand. Plans that start on install, such as Nomad's unlimited plans, are better installed on arrival.
