Roaming in the USA is expensive on most UK and EU plans: the US is outside the EU roaming zone, and daily passes add up quickly on a two-week road trip. A travel eSIM avoids that: you install a data plan before you leave, and it connects to a US network when you land.

Almost every USA plan starts on your first connection in the US, not at purchase, and there are long-validity plans for longer stays. Your own SIM stays in the phone for calls and texts, and the plan is prepaid: when the data or the days run out, it simply stops.

- Turn on data roaming
- Once you land, switch data roaming on for the Aynet line. It costs nothing extra: the plan is the price. Keep roaming off on your home SIM so it does not charge you.
- When the plan starts
- Most USA plans start on your first connection in the US. A few start on installation, and each says so before you buy. An unstarted plan shows its install-by date in My eSIMs.
- National parks and road trips
- Coverage is strong in cities and along the main highways and thins out in remote parks and deserts, for every network. Download offline maps before long drives.
- Canada too?
- A USA plan covers the US only. For a trip that crosses into Canada, our regional plans cover both; describe the route and we compare.

Questions travellers ask
Does my EU or UK roaming work in the USA?
Not for free. The US is outside the EU roaming zone, so most home plans charge a daily pass or per-MB fee there. A USA eSIM gives you data at a fixed price instead.
Which network will I be on in the USA?
One of the US networks listed on this page. Your phone picks the one with the best signal where you are and can switch as you move.
Does it work in Canada or Mexico?
No, a USA plan works in the US only. If your trip crosses a border, describe the route and we recommend a regional plan that covers every stop.
How much data do I need for two weeks in the USA?
Road trips use a lot of maps and music: 10 GB covers most two-week trips with some streaming, 5 GB is enough for maps and messages. Or describe your trip and we recommend one plan.
Is there a plan for a longer stay?
Yes. Besides one- to four-week plans there are long-validity plans for stays of several months. They are all in the table on this page.
Can I keep my own number?
Yes. The eSIM carries data only. Your own SIM stays in the phone for calls, texts and bank verification codes. It does not give you a US phone number.
What if I run out of data?
Top up the same eSIM from My eSIMs while the plan is running. No new QR code, and the price is shown before you pay.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, if the eSIM has never been installed. Once it is installed on a phone it cannot be refunded, because the profile is tied to that device.
